BEATLES Advisory Webinar: Climate and organic farming – an introduction

The effects of climate change are becoming impossible to ignore in Central Europe. Agriculture plays a dual role here: on the one hand, as a source of greenhouse gases, it is partly responsible for global warming. On the other hand, it is particularly affected by the effects of the climate crisis, mainly due to increasing extreme weather events such as heavy rainfall or droughts.

At this event:

  • Dr. Cathleen Frühauf from the Deutscher Wetterdienst will discuss in details the connection between climate change and agriculture
  • Dr. Jürn Sanders, Chairman of the Executive Board of FiBL – The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture in Switzerland, will highlight the advantages that organic farming brings to the system.
  • Two practicing farmers will share hands-on strategies for adapting to the climate crisis.

Event details:

  • Language: German (live English interpretation available)
  • Participation: Free of charge
  • Registration deadline: October 27, 2025

Organised by the BEATLES project in collaboration with the European Climate Initiative (EUKI)- “Improving C-balances on organic farms for the sequestration of atmospheric carbon”.

The project “Improving C-balances on organic farms for the sequestration of atmospheric carbon” is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
